The main objective of our team is to improve understanding of the mental capacities of domestic farm animals.

Indeed, many of these animals are capable of developing mental representations of their physical and social environment as well as of the emotions they feel. They can manipulate these mental representations and use them to exhibit behavioural responses adapted to the situations in which they live. These mental capacities are therefore essential for animal adaptation and welfare. However, to date few studies have investigated the mental capacities of domestic farm animals and knowledge on the subject remains limited.
