Research

Parasitic gastrointestinal  nematodes (GIN) present one of the greatest threats to the productivity and sustainability of ruminant production systems worldwide. In the absence of an efficient alternative strategy, the control GIN population remains largely based on anthelmintics treatments. However, reports of resistance emerged for all anthelmintic classes. Anthelmintic resistance has now become a major concern in veterinary and human medicine since it has spread globally in field populations.
In this context, our main objective is to develop novel strategies for the sustainable control of the GIN impacting livestock welfare and production. Our investigations ranged from the fine characterization of parasite fitness to the functional validation of novel pharmacological targets. For this purpose, we are taking advantage of one of the largest collection of livestock parasitic nematode isolates in the world, including anthelmintic-resistant isolates.
