The UMR BioForA interacts with 2 local units,

• Experimental Genetics and Biomass Unit (UE GBFOR) et

• Unit under contract 2030 Arbres et Réponses aux Contraintes Hydriques et Environnementales  (ARCHE) of the University of Orleans.

In order to fulfil part of its research objectives, the unit has integrated its biochemistry and histology laboratories into the Phenobois regional platform. Labelled in 2008, this platform pools, in collaboration with other Research Units of the ECODIV Department, skills in wood analysis techniques. Its aim is to carry out medium and high throughput phenotyping of wood properties. Génobois is part of the Future Investment project Xyloforest.

The UMR BioForA is developing close relations with socio-economic partners in the "Forest" sector by participating in various national bodies (Permanent Technical Committee for Selection, Technical Committee for the Coordination of State Seed Orchards, Forest Genetic Resources Commission), in the "Poplar" and "Improved Forest Varieties" GISs and by interacting with the Ministries of Agriculture and the Environment and with the ONF.

The UMR BioForA has recognized expertise in genetics, biotechnology and genomics in forest trees, which ensures a solid partnership and involvement in regional (Adrien, Carbonex, Plan Loire Grandeur Nature, Speal, Valrob, ) and national (Futurol, Tropic...) research projects, Stress in Trees, SysBioPop, Flag, Praise) and European (Procogen, Tree for Joules and Tree4Future) which brings together 29 partners and whose ambition is to structure at European level knowledge, know-how and tools in forestry research in order to respond in a sustainable way to European demand.

Finally, UMR BioForA is part of two Investment for the future projects, Genius and Xyloforest.
